Shocks and Strut Replacement

Shocks and struts are often over looked when it comes to maintaining your vehicle. Many times its because the wear takes a number of years to happen, and the driver doesn't notice the subtle changes in the ride quality and high-speed handling of the vehicle.

When you drive over a bump or pothole, the shocks and struts will absorb the impact. The struts also apart of the suspension system and keep your vehicle's tires properly aligned. Shocks and struts will wear down over time with regular use of your vehicle and they will usually need to be replaced or repaired around every 50,000 miles or so.

You may start to notice one of more of the following symptoms if there is an issue with your vehicle's shocks or struts:

  • Bouncing excessively after driving over bumps or potholes
  • Difficulty steering
  • Shaky ride
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Vehicle nose dives while braking
  • Vehicle pulls to one side
  • Visible leak underneath car

When it comes to shocks and struts, price does affect quality, and quality affects the ride and handling. Always insist on a quality name-brand manufacturer. You'll be happy with the result of a few dollars more spent versus the results of a few dollars saved.
